  1. Check the captured draft

Here's a customer onboarding workflow in SOP Flow. Browser actions and screenshots become a draft. Start by checking the captured instructions against the evidence.

  2. Make every instruction clear

Open the review workbench. Select the handoff step, clarify what happens next, and name the responsible role. Use review suggestions to spot missing context.

  3. Preview and import

Next, choose the destination SOP and phase. Preview the selected steps, and choose whether to append them or replace existing content before importing.

  4. Review before publishing

Import creates a draft, not an approved procedure. Follow your team's review process before publishing. This prepared example shows the reviewed procedure.

  5. Follow the SOP and keep evidence

When the procedure is ready, the next person can follow it, complete required checks, and record handoff evidence. Capture once, then review and put it to work.

One workflow, from first capture to repeatable work.

  1. 01

    Capture the work

Record a browser task as you do it. Use captured interactions and screenshots to build an editable first draft.

  2. 02

    Make it reliable

Check the draft, add exceptions and responsibilities, then move the procedure through review and approval.

  3. 03

    Help people learn

Assign training, check understanding with quizzes, and record completion against the assigned procedure.

  4. 04

    Run and improve

Use runs and recurring schedules to follow the work. Collect step evidence and keep reviews on your calendar.

Make the captured steps worth following.

Keep the evidence and improve the instructions before importing. You decide what accurately explains the process.

Check the evidence

Connect instructions to source events and choose the screenshot that best explains the step.

Organize the draft

Edit, merge, split and reorder steps. Add roles, checklists and decisions that a click alone cannot explain.

Add context with your voice

Narrate while you work in the same browser window. Optional server transcription connects your explanation to the captured actions and screenshots.

Reuse the useful parts

Use parameters for values that change. Check the destination and preview before adding or replacing steps.

Choose Start with narration in the extension to explain your work while recording. With your consent, microphone audio is transcribed by OpenAI and matched to your clicks and screenshots. Pause and Finish also stop the microphone. Review the generated SOP before publishing.

One workflow, from start to finish

A customer handoff the next person can follow.

Walk through this example with fictional data. Images show real SOPFlow components; this is not a customer result or a productivity benchmark.

Sample SOP: customer onboarding handoff

Owner: Customer Success. Trigger: onboarding is ready for handoff. Outcome: confirmed details, an assigned owner and a recorded next action.

  1. 1. Confirm the customer details

Open the record and check the organization and primary contact. If information is missing, pause the handoff and ask the owner to complete it.

Check: organization name and primary contact verified.

  2. 2. Assign the handoff owner

Select the responsible teammate, confirm the next action with them and save the record. Record the owner and next action in the run note.

Check: owner confirmed and handoff note recorded.

Adapt this example to your organization and test it with the person doing the task before approval.

Original internal test · Recorder 0.3.1

What happened when we tested a complete capture and import.

In our September 2026 release qualification, the packaged extension recorded a fictional customer-setup workflow through a real local API and database. These are engineering test results, not a customer testimonial or a time-savings benchmark.

16
captured events
8

8
imported steps
  • Every captured event was linked to a generated instruction in this test.
  • Stopping while offline retained pending events; retry completed after connectivity returned.
  • Paused input, the test password and private query parameters were excluded from stored event data.
  • Retrying the same import returned the same receipt without creating duplicate SOP steps.
Read the method, limitations and original output

The test used Chrome for Testing 153, the packaged Manifest V3 extension, HTTP authentication, screenshot upload routes, tRPC and an isolated PostgreSQL database. It captured 16 events and one screenshot, produced eight instructions, and imported all eight. A deliberately invalid synthetic model response exercised the rule-based fallback. No production customer data was copied.

This is one automated technical scenario. It does not measure live AI writing quality, microphone accuracy, novice usability or time saved. The original draft still contains navigation steps and repeated tab switches that an author should review. Sensitive screenshots need human review; this test is not a universal masking guarantee. The visual walkthrough above is a separate prepared customer-handoff example.

Measure your own workflow: compare capture, correction, import and successful task completion before making productivity claims.

Considering a Scribe alternative?

Scribe also offers screenshot guides, voice transcription and desktop capture on eligible plans. Evaluate SOPFlow when capture needs to connect to ownership, reviews, training and runs. Try the same task and compare the complete result.

Latest download · v0.4.0

Use Chrome or Microsoft Edge on a desktop or laptop. You need a SOPFlow account to connect the extension and save your recordings.

The download above is the latest recorder release. Store installations receive approved updates automatically; Google review can delay their availability.

  1. Install from the Chrome Web Store, then pin SOPFlow Recorder to your browser toolbar.
  2. Open the extension and choose Connect to SOPFlow. Sign in or create your workspace, then confirm the connection.
  3. Record a short browser task, stop, and open it in SOPFlow. Review the draft and screenshots before importing steps into an SOP. AI drafting uses your workspace’s shared weekly tokens.
Install the downloaded extension in Chrome or Edge

Extract the ZIP, then use Developer mode in Chrome or Microsoft Edge to load the sopflow-recorder folder. Manual installations do not receive normal Store updates. Finish and verify existing captures before changing installations, and keep only one copy of the recorder enabled.

  1. Create a SOPFlow workspace and check recorder processing and AI allowances on the pricing page.
  2. Download and unzip the extension. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome or edge://extensions in Microsoft Edge. Turn on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the extracted sopflow-recorder folder.
  3. Open the extension and connect to SOPFlow. Sign in to the workspace where the procedure belongs.
  4. Start recording on a supported website, perform the task, and stop. Review the captured events and drafted steps in SOPFlow.
  5. Organize the draft and select the useful steps. Import into a new SOP or an existing draft; review the preview when replacing steps. Check owners, exceptions and checklists before requesting review.

Built for browser workflows

Capture actions and screenshots on supported web pages. This is not continuous video recording or native desktop capture. Review accuracy, missing actions, and exceptions. Import into a new or existing draft SOP; replacing steps requires choosing that mode and reviewing the preview.

Record deliberately. Review before sharing.

Recording starts when you choose Start. Input masking helps reduce sensitive captured text, but it is not a guarantee that all private information is removed from screenshots or page content. Use example data, enable the available masking settings, and review captures before importing or sharing them.
